BUILDING DREAMS

For this project, we were tasked with designing a captivating and user-friendly website for the Maryland Women’s Business Center (MWBC). The goal was to create a layout that not only aligns with the organization’s mission of empowering women entrepreneurs, but also encourages user engagement, especially through clickable advertisements and call-to-action elements. The design focused on clarity, visual appeal, and accessibility ensuring that visitors are drawn in, informed, and inspired to take the next step in their business journey.

Sketches and Moodboard

For this project, I wanted to create a website that truly honors the strength and dedication of businesswomen across various industries. I began by asking myself: How can we encourage the target audience to click and explore the opportunities the Maryland Women’s Business Center offers? From there, I started sketching ideas and built a mood board to define the overall tone empowering, bold, and inspiring.

As I explored visual concepts, I focused on fields where women are often underrepresented, which led me to depict a female construction worker a powerful symbol of resilience and breaking barriers. To add visual interest and balance, I applied the rule of thirds and used a three-subject composition, creating a sense of action and momentum through the use of an odd-numbered group. This approach helped me tell a more dynamic story and emphasize the impact women have in every field.

The Website
After finalizing the design concept, I moved forward with building the website. My goal was to create an experience where interaction begins the moment the user lands on the page inviting them to click, explore, and engage seamlessly. I focused on making the interface intuitive and accessible, ensuring that visitors could easily sign up and discover the resources and opportunities offered by the Maryland Women’s Business Center. Every element, from layout to user flow, was designed to empower and guide the audience toward taking action.
